We hire! News Writer, SEO Manager and Affiliate Marketing Manager

road.cc and our parent company F-at Digital are recruiting again (we’re still looking for a new Head of Video by the way!) and this time we’re looking to fill three more positions. If you are a dynamic journalist / recent journalism graduate with a keen interest in cycling, SEO specialist, or familiar with the art of affiliate marketing, we want to hear from you.

Full details of all jobs have been posted on LinkedIn where you can apply, but if you don’t have an account feel free to read on and send an email recruitment [at] f-at.co.uk with your CV and cover letter.

New writer

This is an exciting and fast-paced role in which you will split your working days between covering road.cc’s standalone news and managing our daily live blog, a busy micro-site within road.cc. The ideal candidate could be a news reporter already with a passion for cycling, or a talented writer looking for their first full-time job in news journalism, with a cycling twist. You could do a story about the changes in the rules of the road for your first story of the day, then a little later write about one of the biggest races on the professional cycling calendar; it is therefore important that you are comfortable working in a fast paced environment.

Your working days on our live blog will be all of the above, but in small chunks and with a slightly different tone of voice. This means that our ideal candidate will have a great sense of humor and be adept at finding blog-worthy material from social media, news feeds or research. You will work with the Editor-in-Chief and Editor-in-Chief to set the daily news schedule for the site, identifying what will generate the most engagement and traffic.

Knowledge of cycling culture is essential for this position. That doesn’t mean you have to know who finished 45th in the 2006 Tour de France, but you just need to have that little tag in your head that says “cyclist”.

Key tasks

  • Research and writing material for reporting and live blogging
  • Liaise with the press team, the editor and the technical team
  • Publish your stories on our social networks
  • Engage with the public
  • Reporting of other site content on the blog

What’s on offer

  • Work with a multi-award-winning team on a multi-award-winning website
  • Competitive salary

  • Have a keen sense of current affairs and an eye for the interesting or the unusual
  • Be a creative, dynamic and engaging writer
  • A natural social media
  • Already a cycling journalist (well, we said ‘ideal’)
  • Organized

The ideal candidate will have …

  • Experience or qualification in journalism, as well as training in media law
  • Good communication skills – you will need to communicate well with the rest of the team, your readers, PR and marketing people, industry insiders and more
  • The ability to work under pressure

Business hours

  • Five days a week
