According to the National Retail Federation, spending hit a record high for the year, with consumers expected to spend an average of $1,000 on gifts, decorations and groceries for themselves and loved ones.

Seasonally adjusted sales rose 1.7% in October, and this early increase in spending has caused retailers to anticipate a strong holiday shopping season. But the biggest gains are happening in e-commerce, with 85% of shoppers saying they plan to buy most or all of their gifts this year online. Digital retail sales are expected to grow 15% from last year, to approximately $226 billion in total online sales. These early fourth quarter numbers are a promising indication that we will see an even more substantial increase in affiliate marketing revenue this year.
